CAKE STUDIO CUSTOM PORTFOLIO
Happy Sweet 16 Nikki
Happy Sweet 16 Nikki !
What a fun way to celebrate with your girlfriends...takeout sushi and dessert/cake sushi.
The "wooden serving board" was made from our chocolate fudge cake with vanilla bean buttercream.
Each of the sushi was comprised of cake, fondant, modeling chocolate with their distinct topping. Oh and don't forget all the rice used is hand rolled...not white sprinkles or shredded coconut.
Always a crowd pleasure for the birthday gal or guy and all the guests!
Individual Desserts Tappas
Here's just one of the varieties of desserts we are making for a tapas party tonight.
Callebaut chocolate exterior with chocolate and pear mousse, spiced chocolate sponge cake, marzipan discs, tuiles and colorful chocolate balls.
The caramel sugar flowers are for another dessert tapas.
Just there because I wanted to see how they would look for photo.
Off to finish the pate brisee and chocolate brioche!
Happy 5th Birthday Caitlyn
Here's what every Pinkalicious storybook fan should have.....
their very own 13" high miniature stove which only bakes pink cupcakes!
The stove was made from vanilla cake with electric pink coloring. The buttercream contained both Morello and sweet black cherries, as well as Callebaut chocolate ganache.....yummy!
Since Pinkalicious loves pink cupcakes...we include a few of those too...filled with cherry goodness and ganache.
The cake pops were made by Pinkaliciuos' unicorn...difficult to do without thumbs!
A very happy 5th birthday Caitlyn....xoxo your pal Pinkalicious!
Nina....Your Mission Is....
That's right....should I accept this mission?
Create a four tier cake....the theme is....dessert.
Build it like nothing you've made before.....this is your Cake Challenge!
Oh....and did we mention...make it look like it's falling over.
Right.....OK! What fun.....is Winnipeg ready for this?
Of course...you are.
Ta dah....Mission accomplished...I'd say!
The bottom opened box tier featured all kinds of cookie and candy favorites.
See if you can find the licorice all sorts, Nanaimo bars and handmade raspberries!
The next tier featured a blueberry lattice pie.....blueberries were all hand-rolled. They took a lot of time, but oh so worth the look and detail...yummy.
The next tier had a 3-layer cake with a slice out.....not shown is the missing cake slice on it's dessert plate with silver fork.
Lastly...the top tier was an ice cream sundae with drippy fudge sauce, wafer and whipped cream and of course the cherry on top!
Really happy with the end results. What do you think?
Close-up of this "Mission Impossible Cake Challenge" cake.
What can we say...but It's all in the "CAKE STUDIO details!"
OK, so this tall design is my MOST FAVORITE custom cake design-to-date.
Fun to find out what a client likes...pick a theme and run with it!
Oh, the ideas are endless....pick a theme any theme.
Hummm....Let's think of a lazy old fashioned breakfast...clock radio, cereal,
eggs, toaster, coffee cup, waffles, bacon, juice glass. Your imagination can
conjure up tons of creative ideas!
Won't your favorite someone be surprised?
Or let's try your workplace or hobby for instance...What comes to mind?
CAKE STUDIO can custom create a design just for your theme....whatever it is.
WE ACCEPT YOUR CAKE CHALLENGE!
Confirmation Cake
Congratulations Adrienne on your Confirmation last Sunday.
CAKE STUDIO was excited to create this two tiered cake for your special day.
With guidance from her mother Leticia and Adrienne's own design sense, we came up with this feminine design.
This two tiered ivory fondant cake featured our vanilla and chocolate cake layered with Italian custard cream, Callebaut chocolate ganache and fresh organic strawberries.
Although difficult to see from my photo :( the cake was decorated with a swiss dot fushcia glitter design on both tiers with tiny bowed ribbon around each bottom edge. The topper showcased our sugarpaste Gerbers with foliage.
To complete this unique design, a cross design was selected for its filigree pattern. The cross was then finished with an edible gold, making it a cherished keepsake.
Thanks to the great staff at Amici's for a wondeful cake service. And if a take-out container of gnocchi finds it's way to CAKE STUDIO...I won't say no.
You Want a What...?
Me: Hello, CAKE STUDIO... Nina here...How can I help you?
Cassandra: Hi....Could you do a hearse cake for my mom's
50th Birthday next year?
Me: You want a What?.....Hearse cake?.....Are you sure?
The 50th Birthday is finally here...voilà... a classic '60s Cadillac hearse...PLUS...a mausoleum for drop-off. This family has such a gallows sense of humor. ;)
The hearse is totally constructed of vanilla cake with passionfruit buttercream...the mausoleum had added Callebaut chocolate.

Happy First Birthday
Happy 1st Birthday Sienna!
The birthday party theme was Baby Minnie Mouse.
So how could we create a birthday cake using the theme without infringing on Disney's copyright?
Here's our answer.....have baby Sienna dressed like her favorite character!
Bursting out of this two tiered cake is a likeness of baby Sienna, what a cutie-pie face. All ready for kisses! She's holding her "flowers of the month"...the daisy.
Absolutely loved creating this cake...So much fun...Channelling your inner child. Growing up I remember wanting to work for Disney...thought I could be an animation sketch artist. Cake is my medium of choice now!
Each tier consisted of vanilla cake with Philly cream cheese buttercream with Callebaut dark chocolate ganache.....yummy.
This all edible cake design was just short of the two foot high mark. We like to think...We build them "Ford" tough....to withstand the journey to their new homes! Property and copyrights belong to "Disney", cake created by "CAKE STUDIO".

Happy 60th BD Jim
Just had to show the details of Jim's 60th birthday car cake.
It's a classic 1967 Dodge Charger. Was a beautiful car to sculpt from the vanilla cake with raspberry buttercream. This one was close to 2 1/2 feet in length.
Ohhh....those details, from hand painted Charger logos to grill work, treaded tires, windshield wipers to the classic hood detailing and all that shiny "chrome".
I've been told Jim is a serious car guy...he's the president of Manitoba Mopar...so the details had to be as perfect as possible in cake. Done!

Cloudy with the Chance
of Giant Cheeseburger ?
That's right folks....a giant cheeseburger presented on an edible silver platter,
was commissioned for a couple's 25th Wedding Anniversary. Seems that Patti
and Paul had their first date at a hamburger restaurant back in the '80s.
OK, so how big was this cheeseburger cake...well let's just say that it took two people to carry it and was approximately 15 inches high...BIG.
Now because we wanted all of the condiments requested not to be all squished: cheese, tomatoes, sliced onion rings, pickles, lettuce, mustard and their special horseradish mayonnaise...we had to construct a strong interior structure.
Turned out wonderfully...you could actually see each individual condiment item.
We didn't use colored buttercream to represent each condiment, as most bakeries have done in the past. "It's all in the CAKE STUDIO details".
Oh and that burger, great surface detail with grill marks too! Looked like it came from a Weber grill, and yummy too.
Have you noticed the bun has sesame seeds? Thanks mom for all 150 seeds.
Happy Anniversary Patti and Paul and many more "burger" years to come!

Communion Cake
Congratulations Lucas on your Communion.
It was CAKE STUDIO'S honor to be a part of your big day!
Enjoyed collaborating with Leticia (Lucas's mother) on this custom cake.
The cake flavor was our vanilla and chocolate cake layered with Italian custard cream, Callebaut chocolate ganache and fresh organic strawberries.
The design featured six of our handmade sugarpaste Calla Lilies, bible with praying hands design, and a blue sugar bead rosary with ornate cross.
Now part of the cross design was actually molded from Lucas's own cross, a FATIMA PORTUGAL gift from his grandmother. Remember at CAKE STUDIO we
have the capability to make a food safe silicon mold of practically anything.
Loved the edible sugar beads as well, they looked like glass...and so beautiful
to drape. There was a lot to discover on this cake...a mix of textures, light, luster
and matte finishes.
Special thanks to Nick and his staff at Nicolino's...Great job!
Italiano Dessert Buffet
When I get a request for Italian themed desserts...and that request comes from a man with "great financial power"...my "Don"....I simply can't refuse.
We made three Italian themed dessert selections.
The first was our tower of cream puffs filled with Italian custard cream in both vanilla and coffee varieties, dipped in callebaut chocolate.
The petal shaped dessert was a refreshing orange, Limoncello and anise flavored sour cream pound cake, we topped it off with a simple orange glaze.
The third dessert was a chocolate pan di Spagna with chocolate ganache. We finished this rich cake layer with Amaretto raspberry mousse, fresh raspberries and chocolate curls.
All-in-all a wonderful mix of authentic Italian flavors, textures and the aroma that filled CAKE STUDIO...well...let's just say "That's Amore".
Lincoln Continental
Although this was a groom's cake....it's yet another to-scale replica of our custom work. This classic beauty is of a 1963 Lincoln Continental Convertible with the famous suicide doors.
What was an added feature was the custom sculptured figures of the bride and groom...made from chocolate.
Just loved this car...was so much fun to create. The best part was knowing that the groom had no idea of what awaited him at the venue. Wish I could have seen his face.

Peony Power
What a refreshing simple cake for the "Just Because" or Birthday celebration.
A handmade CAKE STUDIO sugarpaste peony in full bloom, adorns this pale pink fondant cake.
CAKE STUDIO takes great pride in our handmade sugarpaste floral work. We feel that our customers can see the quality and love in each blossom...petal by petal.
Remember, it's all in the CAKE STUDIO details!
Happy Retirement
We were commissioned by Gardewine Group Inc. to create a
to-scale replica of their "calender" truck... 2009 International ProStar semi.
This creation spanned 43" long and featured the image of the retiring boss.
Thanks Gardewine...this was fun to create! Property and copyrights belong to "International", cake created by "CAKE STUDIO".
Happy 8th Madison
Madison selected her favorite book character "Mia the Bridemaid's Fairy" as her birthday cake theme. Thanks Madison for loaning me your books.....strictly for research of course.
Here we created a four tiered cake with all the "important aspects" of the book included. The cake tiers featured a different colored fondant application for each.
All the characters were made into sugar cookie favors. Each was hand drawn
with edible color .....just like the book style. (Psssst....the secret is out.....Nina
can draw and paint too).
The top tier was shaped into a castle, complete with turret and lustered in pearl.
OK, so there was alot of pearl luster and "fairy dust" sprinkled everywhere!
Also, as her keepsake, we included a beautiful handmade CAKE STUDIO sugarpaste pink blush Rose at the very top of the castle.
50th Anniversary Party
Congratulations on your 50th Wedding Anniversary Maria and Giovanni !Felice 50 ° Anniversario Maria e Giovanni.
Molti anni più felici insieme.
CAKE STUDIO was pleased to create this milestone cake for the Anniversary
party at Amici's restaurant.
As you may know, a 50th Anniversary signifies a golden year of marriage.
What better way to celebrate this 1961 union than with edible gold!
The picture frame you see is made from dark chocolate, gilded with gold...all edible. It even had it's stand....was in two separate pieces. Of course the picture of Maria and Giovannni is edible too. I have a feeling that this frame will never be eaten, but will remain a keepsake piece.
I love this frame...it's so ornate. It reminds me of the old world charm, you would find everywhere in Italy.
Our gift to the couple were our handmade CAKE STUDIO sugarpaste flowers.
The roses we created were the JFK rose, a classic rose with lovely petals.

Father Daughter Ball
This was the "Sweet Treats Funky" cake CAKE STUDIO created for the 6th annual Father Daughter Ball held at the Hotel Fort Gary's Grand Ballroom.
This colorful topsy-turvy cake was created as a Silent Auction prize, to raise funds for CancerCare Manitoba...earmarked for prostate cancer research.
Was lovely to see all those dads with their very "dressed-up" daughters.
The ballroom looked amazing...great job! Wished we could have stayed longer.
Special thanks to radio personalities Jay & Kerri and the gang at 102.3 Clear FM and CancerCare Manitoba.
Also thanks to Ted Wilton, bulk barn franchisee for the kind donation of all that yummy candy.
Great to see Jake and Jess of Kampphotography taking care of all the photos.
I know you'll send a better pic of this cake from the venue.
Happy Sweet 16th
Happy Sweet 16 Shaneece...love mom and dad and all your family and friends!
What a fun cake to create.
The mother and daughter found a picture online of a handbag that they both liked.
Features that were important were: must have zebra print...even the ribbon around the cake board had to match.
The colors had to be bright....chose electric lime green and purple.
Some bling in the form of silver accented grommets and buckles.
We added the handmade CAKE STUDIO sugarpaste peony in shades of purple but we even added purple glitter...sorry it doesn't show up in this pic. This will be Shaneece's keepsake from her big party.
Oh and the inside cake flavour......Pandan of course! A surprise for the birthday
girl when she made her first slice......bright vibrant green...but oh so tasty!
Of course, we'd love to create your 18th milestone birthday as mentioned.
Let's see..what can we create.....
Welcome Baby Liam
So excited to post this pic. Here is my first baby shower cake for a CAKE STUDIO wedding couple from last season.
Congratulations Melanie and Chris on your new addition...baby Liam.
He's so adorable and such a good baby....never once fussed during the whole consultation with Grandma or mom at all!
Loved creating this "baby rocker" theme for the cupcakes and the matching 6"
cake topper.
We used the color scheme of black, red, silver, purple and teal. (Sorry took this
photo without it's baby teal sugar guitar and banner.)
The cake flavor was a chocolate raspberry with Callebaut chocolate ganache and vanilla/chocolate buttercream....yummy.
The cupcakes were alot of fun. They featured various designs with the rock guitars, black and purple glitter stars, cutout frames with "skull and cross-bone" motif, gun metal silver balls and hearts....just because we all LOVE baby Liam!
Best wishes for the whole family!
Absolutely, booked for his first birthday cake....yipeee.

Tropical Tiki Paradise
Ahh...to be marooned on a tropical isle with the girl of your dreams.
Eating fresh fruits, carving your own tiki statues under the shade of a coconut palm tree.
But beware.....that volano is soon to erupt.
Ok...so it's not a hollywood script...but it does convey the wishes of the client's MUST HAVE list.
CAKE STUDIO had fun creating this one. Everything is edible. We even included some sugar erupting lava.
The detail was apparent in the sugar flowers, fruits, tiki statues and of course the very cute hula "pin-up" girl.....oh and what curves she had!
Happy 40th Birthday Steve!
Thanks Angela for this commission.
Ikebana Floral Arrangement
Here's our entry in this years "One Sweet Affair", a fundraising event for Seven Oaks Hospital, (before packing up to travel to the Fort Garry Hotel).
We chose a Japanese theme, with the emphasis on Ikebana floral arranging.
The handmade CAKE STUDIO sugarpaste flowers included Oncidium "dancing lady" Orchids, Magnolia, winterberries, various foliage and moss species from the region.
This triple tier cake consisted of Vanilla/Lemon cake with raspberry kirsch liqueur, Chocolate cake with moca buttercream with Kahlua and lastly a Pandan flavoured cake with coconut/pineapple buttercream. All the cake was covered in chocolate ganache and chocolate fondant.
The design featured four-sided rice paper screens with handpainted cherry blossom design.
Congratulations to Bruce at PITBLADO LLP for the winning bid on this
one-of-a-kind cake creation. Enjoy everyone!
Happy Birthday Nicole
What do you create for the coffee lover?
A giant Tim Horton's cup with her favorite maple glazed donut.
The donut was even filled with pastry cream and topped off with maple fondant, just like Timmy's.
That is a real cup in the middle....just for a size comparison.
Thanks to the good folks at Tim Horton's for design permission! Property and copyrights belong to "Tim Horton's", cake created by "CAKE STUDIO".
1957 Classic Chevy Belair
As seen in the Winnipeg Free Press.
We loved creating this to-scale classic 1957 Chevy Bel Air Coupe.
Fondant featured the retro two-toned combo...larkspur blue & ivory.
All that was missing was Fats Domino singing "Blueberry Hill" on the jukebox!
Property and copyrights belong to "General Motors", cake created by "CAKE STUDIO".
Saturday Night Take-Out Menu
Your youngest child is planning a sleep-over for friends.
What's a unique treat that each child would enjoy?
Answer: Their very own CAKE STUDIO dessert cheeseburger
with the works!
Watch their eyes open wide when they open these take-out containers. Inside is a dessert "cheeseburger" with the works (a delectable treat of brownie-like cake dipped in Callebaut chocolate with a crunchy exterior,
on a cupcake bun including lettuce, pickle, tomato, mustard), fries and "ketchup" for dipping.
These were alot of fun to create. Even the take-out package for the fries with custom logo were a huge hit!
Welcome Home
This cake was commissioned to celebrate the homecoming after a long absence.
It was CAKE STUDIO's honor to create this cake.
We are proud to be Canadian!
Oh....You Beautiful Girl
A perfect baby shower showstopper.
These hand carved pillows had all the makins' of real pillows.
Featured top quilted pattern with pink dragees with tassels and bows.
The bottom pillow featured an embosed lace pattern with tiny baby's breath flowers.
Also a pique lace ruffle with corded trim and pearlized corner medallions.
The two-toned quilted baby booties were the mom's keepsake....all sugarpaste with real chiffon ribbon bows.
Boba Fett
Ok....so I had to look up who was Boba Fett....I was not a huge SW fan.
But, we loved creating this custom 14" life size cake look-a-like.
This was commissioned by bride Natasha as a surprise for her groom Mike. We call it a groom's cake. The cake usually is ordered by the bride as a surprise for her groom. It's meant to be a reflection of the groom’s interests, hobbies, favorite sports, profession, or anything else he enjoys.
CAKE STUDIO was thrilled to be a part of Natasha and Mike's BIG SURPRISE for their wedding day! The delivery was late in the evening at Fort Gibraltar. The lights were dimmed...the DJ played the Star Wars theme...and David and myself made the surprise entrance with Boba Fett. The cake was cut with a knife and light sabre.
The cake was a white vanilla bean cake with rich moca buttercream.....yummy.
The 3D carved helmut featured all the Boba Fett details.....right down to the retractible range finder.
Property and copyrights belong to "Lucasfilm", cake created by "CAKE STUDIO".
Fashion Handbag
Thanks to photographer David Lipnowski for this great pic.
Everthing is edible....even the clear sugar sunglasses and those
beautiful Stargazer lilies.
The crocodile detail on the handbag was all hand-crafted with modeling tools!
Ready for a bridal shower for the lucky bride....she'll love it!
Bee Outfitters Grand Opening
Happy Grand Opening to the newly renovated Bee Outfitters store at Bee Maid on Roseberry Street.
CAKE STUDIO was delighted to accept this commissioned work for their party. The new store has tons of great 'bee stuff"...check it out for sure if you haven't "bee"n.
Our cake design idea was simple...just replicate all the interesting supplies they sell in the store. Skeps, smokers, hats, bee's wax sheets, molds, soaps...the supply list is vast.
1970 Dodge Challenger
What kind of birthday cake do you get for the car enthusiast.....
A scaled replica of his own 1970 Hemmi orange Dodge Challenger of course!
This is totally edible...right down to it's tires. Love those handmade sugar headlights....
It's all in the CAKE STUDIO details! Property and copyrights belong to "Chrysler Corp.", cake created by "CAKE STUDIO".
Happy Birthday Barbara
Happy Birthday Barbara....Love your daughter Lindsay!
When this birthday cake was commissioned, the daughter brought in an online cake picture for a design idea. It was the usual square cake with a Burberry print design.
Well, we like to give each cake our own special CAKE STUDIO spin...voila our version of the Burberry cake!
Since this was an evening birthday celebration with all the ladies...why not do it up right...a touch of glamour.
The hat box featured quilted satin design with large pink satin bow. The box was filled with Barbara's favorite colors of peach and pink flowers.
And the piece de resistance....a life-size Burberry Brit Sheer perfume bottle. It's all edible.......everything! Property and copyrights belong to "Burberry", cake created by "CAKE STUDIO".
Happy Birthday Chris
We continue to create car cakes...similar to others we have posted.
Just had to show this pic sent in by Rose, the wife of this happy and surprised birthday recipient. Her husband Chris, is the proud owner of
a '57 Chevy Bel Air in that color.
The email read: "Loved the way the cake turned out- showing everyone the pics I took.
Here is a picture of my husband, who could not believe his eyes when he saw the cake.
Party was huge success - wanted to thank you again for the cake -
the cake was delicious!"
A picture says it all....another happy customer!

Happy Sweet 16
It's a topsy-turvy world at 16! This off-kilter, three tiered cake had all
the makings for a fun Sweet 16 Birthday party.
The young lady requested that the cake be 3-tiered.
Fondant colors chosen were hot pink, pale pink and black
with accents of silver.
Another must have, a big sugar bow with luster.
So this is the CAKE STUDIO design we created for her special day.
Details included a harlequin pattern, concentric circles and stripes
with a handmade custom sugar "16" on the top tier.
We also decided that it would show better with tapered sides...
to have the look of a "true NY designer topsy-turvy" cake.
Happy Birthday Jackie!
Planes, Trains and Automobiles...
CAKE STUDIO finally fulfilled this phrase....our first 3-D custom plane.
The corporate event was Perimeter Airlines Celebrating their 50th Anniversary. We recreated their Fairchild Metroliner, which spanned one meter in length. It was a big plane...but was an exact scale replica.
The cake had to feed 600 guests (that's banquet size portions not wedding size). That's a huge amount of cake batter, pails of homemade vanilla bean and chocolate buttercream, chocolate fudge, rolled fondant and Callebaut chocolate curls.
Close-up of the nose end of this Metroliner.
Features included Perimeter logo and pin-striping, aircraft registration, navigation and radio antennae, and four-bladed, full-feathering propellers....details, details, details.
Oh and did we forget....the whole plane was elevated from the top of the cake!
Thank you to Deidre from dh Events....for choosing CAKE STUDIO to be part of this special evening.
Also thanks to Diana Toovey, banquet manager of The Marlborough Hotel and her staff...for assistance on the day.
Kudos to the CAKE STUDIO team....Nora, David and Kim. You made this
3-D plane dream a reality!
Property and copyrights belong to "Fairchild", cake created by "CAKE STUDIO".
If the Shoe Fits
Here's a gentlemen's favorite shoe (life-size men's 7).....just part of
the cake in progress.
Of course it's entirely edible.....from the tip of the toe to the heel!
Happy Birthday S.I...the finished cake pics to follow.
We know all of Winnipeg Beach will be talkin' about this cake this
holiday weekend!
FYI: CAKE STUDIO also specializes in creating women's fashion shoes,
sandals and boot styles as well!
Happy 100th Birthday Centenarians!
It was a privilege creating this cake for the Seine River Retirement Residence celebration for those folks 100+ years old.
The design idea came from the year 1910 and what was fashionable for the day. The ladies wore large brimmed hats with feathers and flowers. Their lace blouses featured high collars with their best cameo jewelry.
The men sported jaunty bowler hats with button down collars.
What a fun event....we were proud to be a part of the day's festivities.
The cake (to feed 250 guests) was even featured on Global TV Sept 19th evening news and the Winnipeg Free Press. Thanks Ronna and Anna for thinking of CAKE STUDIO.
1970 Pontiac GTO "The Judge"
What a surprise 50th birthday cake for the proud owner of an authentic Pontiac GTO "The Judge" muscle car.
This scaled replica featured the classic "eyebrows", "The Judge" logo, dual exhaust and spoiler. We even replicated the factory color of green with pearl fleck for the fondant.
Totally edible....right down to it's chrome wheel wells and treaded tires.
It's all in the CAKE STUDIO details. Property and copyrights belong to "General Motors", cake created by "CAKE STUDIO".
Happy 100th & 50th Anniversary
The 100th birthday was represented by the edible flower pot overflowing with "family named" cupcakes and the giant candle with flame.
Oh and let's not forget her love of baseball and BINGO!.
For the 50th Anniversary...well the couple love to travel...a suitcase with destination decals fit the bill.
What a great family event...CAKE STUDIO was honored to be a part of
this special day. цонґратулатіонс
Of course everything was edible!
Happy Birthday Phyllis
The birthday theme was a "tea service" with all the catered and homemade goodies that you could dream of. The hostess Beth, did an incredible job of carrying out the theme throughout her home.
It was our job, to continue the "tea" theme to the birthday cake.
So of course, that's what we did!
To start off, was an edible sugar doily on top of a pink fondant cake. We created a cake teapot with a bouquet of sugar paste pink blush roses. Even the hand made cups and saucers were edible. They looked like genuine china!
Happy Graduation
Congratulations recent medical grad.
We call this CAKE STUDIO design a "Slice of Life" cake....some of the person's interests all on ONE cake.
Here we had the love of the water (choice of blue wave fondant),
fashion (sling back high heel), Hollywood era and the Oscars (glittered stars with edible image of actresses), fav food (sushi), family dog (dog bone treats), Jane Ayre (Victorian pearlized cameo brooch), Gimli (Viking helmut), studies (medical books) and finally a diploma on top.
We used a petaled bottom tier for a fun look.
Grime Reaper....Happy 50th Rob
We create a lot of different birthday cakes....this one had to be similiar to a helium balloon design.
Rather than the plain old round cake...we created something different.
We call this CAKE STUDIO design our 2-D cakes... cake with a slanted top surface with some 3-D effects. In this case....skeletal hands that pop out of the cake holding a silver luster scythe.
We even managed to copy the font from the original design.
Whew...that was some birthday greeting...all those hand applied letters.
Ashley....Can you hear me now?
The classic CAKE STUDIO Sushi Cake. Who knew this cake would be so popular! Ashley did you tell ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS LOL.
We fashion the different sushi to look like party sushi. Each single grain
of "rice" is hand rolled from fondant.
(Did you know it usually takes 3/4 cup of this "rice" to make the sushi on each commissioned cake)?
We have fun creating different garnishes to look like wasabi, pickled ginger, lotus root, mini corn, soya beans, shrimp...the list is on going. Every sushi cake is slightly different from the one before.
Retro TV Dinner
Her favorite childhood memory was sitting in front of the TV...watching Walt Disney...every Sunday night. The meal of course was a TV Dinner.
Let's recreate her favorite....hot fried chicken with buttered potatoes
and mixed vegetables. For dessert... apple cobbler the "bestest part".
Everything is edible...even the tray that holds the yummy food.
Yes, all those mixed vegetables are individually formed...crazy detail.
We encourage you to play with your food!

Princess Allison
Happy 5th Birthday Princess Allison.
This five tiered castle cake was definitely fit for a young princess.
The birthday color scheme requested by the client was white, pink, a touch of blue and lots of gold and pearl luster.
Fairies in gold with tiny flowers and quilting were the complimentary design elements, besides the main cobblestone castle.
The castle was created on its own board...so the client could easily
lift it off and keep for the next days' smaller birthday celebration.
Can't wait to see what next year's sixth birthday theme will be!
My Own Holiday Dessert
So what does the pastry chef/owner Nina of CAKE STUDIO serve at
her holiday dinner?
Our meal is so elaborate with all those traditional must-have savory dishes....a small dessert packed with flavor and oh so yummy...ends the meal just right! Like this liquer version of our seasonal "Rudolph" cupcake.
Here are our favorite frame décors created with 24K gold luster.
Each tiny frame is made from our delicious secret décor chocolate recipe.
For a fun twist...we used tiny edible vintage posters in each frame.
A real conversation piece...to eat of course!
Happy Coca Cola Cake Holidays!
When you've grown up in a grocery store, like I had...somethings just automatically remind you of the holidays. For me it has always been the Christmas Coca Cola Santa...thanks to illustrator Haddon Sunblom.
Sundblom painted portraits (from 1931-1964) of Santa that helped to create the modern image of Santa -- an interpretation that today lives
on in the minds of people of all ages, all over the world.
Here's a favorite Coca Cola Cake for the holidays for you to try at home!
